Trail of the Spellmans by Lisa Lutz

I kind of petered out with this one. I lost the connection with the characters. My emotions were tied with the chaos and mess of Isabel Spellman's life in novels 1-4. They were very parallel for me.
Maybe I wasn't satisfied with the outcome of Izzy's growth  because they no longer mirrored my own.

Maybe I also just really missed Morty. His character was beautiful.

Maybe it was in part due to the ease of the mystery. I know Izzy repeatedly states that the mystery is not part of the story, but it is. No matter how many times she states it otherwise. The tangled web of secrets and lies were too obvious in this one, and I felt like I was slogging through the pages to find something I didn't already know.

Except for the end web. That one was beautiful. And saved the book from a 1 star rating honestly.
