The Fate of Ten by Pittacus Lore

Again, I am reviewing the end of a series, there will be series spoilers. I'll keep out spoilers for the book itself but can't promise I won't spill the beans on what's been happening up until now.

The series is steadily getting better now that the fight has truly begun. While New York City is being burned to the ground, Nine and Five are fighting to the death.  John misses his chance at Setrakus Ra yet again as the villain hightails it to the Sanctuary. Six, Seven, and Adam have been stranded in the jungle by an extreme trueborn zealot. Nothing is going right for anyone.

It all just seems like one large tragedy. All the plot twists that keep happening seriously keeps the pages turning, though. With all the bad luck that has happened, a few gems come from it. Ten is removed from the grasp of her great-grandfather, humans have Legacies to help the outnumbered Garde defend Earth, and the military has provided a safe haven for Four, Five, Six, Seven, Nine, and Ten to regroup.

Ten puts out a psychic call to all the newly activated human Garde to gather with them--debates on whether it is for their protection or to build an army. But of everything that happens, it's that ending. That ending. Now I really need to finish this series up and see what the heck goes down.
