The Girl in the Clockwork Collar

The amazing adventures of Finley and crew continue in America! Can't get much more steampunk than opening the story with a dirigible ride across the pond.

A bit of mystery is involved in each of "The Steampunk Chronicles" stories, but I felt it was overly obvious in this one. This in no way impacted my joy for the story, though. Just kind of made me yell out loud to the characters (and frightened my husband with my state of sanity).

Being in America now, I miss Jack Dandy, but we get a rather easy to hate villain in the shape of Reno Dalton in his stead. This author can really write some dynamic characters.

While Jasper is stalling for time, we get to learn a bit about his background, but I feel there is so much more to the story. That's my only problem with the book, I feel like there is more that couldn't fit. I'm looking at you, Wildcat.

Disappointments on getting as much material as I wish for aside, each character is so beautifully developed with their own sense of personality I couldn't put the book down. I also love the incredibly authentic dialects. This would be a doozy of an audiobook.

Book three is already here and ready to crack open, so I'm going to go read.
